Our van broke down this summer and luckily I was very close to a gas station and was able to pull behind it and call Chris to let him know what happened. While we were waiting for him to get there, the kids did a little exploring and found this bird sitting on a nest in the rocks. There was one baby that had hatched, and three eggs. It was so fun to just sit and watch her. She was very protective and we tried not to get too close, but, Lucas wanted to pet her so badly!
Adam also found this little tiny praying mantis, and Isaac spotted a snake. It's amazing the things you can find when you are stranded in the back of a gas station with a broken down car!
Jason got sick the next day, and spent almost the entire day laying/sleeping on the couch. I'm not going to lie, it was pretty quiet and peaceful around here while he was sick! (Notice that he made himself a bed with double stacked couch cushions, so he would be more "comfy")
No matter how many times I tell my children not to take the cushions off the couch, they do it at least once a week. It drives me crazy, but, they sure have fun building forts and making towers. Even Lucas gets in on it!
And, we had our first "someone left a marker out and Lucas got a hold of it" incident. He was so proud of himself. He said he made lots of circles.
And this is Jason's contraption. He hooked a straw to the water dispenser and then a nozzle thing to that. He said that it was much easier to fill up his water bottles this way.
Lucas has just started to like blankets, stuffed animals, and pillows. He will go and get them and lay on the floor with them all of the time, and, if he is sitting on my lap, he always wants to get a blanket or his puppy so that we can all snuggle together.
He also makes "hiding spots" (that's what he calls them) for himself. He'll sit in the middle of a pile of pillows and say that it is his hiding spot, or nestle up between Chris and I in bed and say that he is in his comfy hiding spot. This one was my personal favorite though:
He was sad when I made him take a nap in his real bed and not this one!
